An entertainer and disability advocate, Maysoon Zayid should have died the day she was born, but somehow survived. In her talk, “Survival of the Unfittest”, Maysoon uses humor to share her story and advice no one wants to hear about and how we can fix our broken world. She grew up oblivious to the reality that being Muslim, disabled, and a girl would make her the target of hate, violence, and discrimination as an adult. She managed to become a successful stand up comedian by appearing in multiple films and TV shows, but remained on the Z-list. Her mantra is, “Yes I cancan”, although it’s not easy, it definitely makes life more interesting.
